We're In The Yorkshire Post

I’m so honoured that the Yorkshire Post has shared my story about re-launching Westholme – and how a dream slowly became a reality.

A few years ago, I made the bold decision to start over. With Kali (my rescue dog) by my side and a flip of a coin, I moved to the Yorkshire Dales. What I found here was space to heal, a community to grow into, and the opportunity to begin again.

When the chance came to bring Westholme – a cottage that had always felt like home to me – back to life, I knew I had to try.

With the support of friends, family, and guidance from a former boss and mentor, Manjit Sareen I began shaping a business plan and vision. The Business Enterprise Fund (BEF) | Loans & Finance for Small Businesses then gave me the crucial support to make it possible.

Westholme is more than a cottage – it’s a retreat, a safe space, and one that I want others to experience just as much as I do. When I first visited all those years ago it felt like home and I’ve wanted to continue to share that with everyone.

Each of our cottages has its own charm and character but when you walk into Westholme - you know you’re stepping into something special. And of course, Swaledale never lets it down. It’s a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales and so humbled to live here now, and call the Dales my home.

What I’ve learned along the way:

🌱 Things often take longer than you expect – but that’s not a bad thing. Care and patience bring depth.

🌱Vision is important, but so are the small, thoughtful details. At Westholme, every touch is designed to make guests (and their four-legged companions) feel at home.

🌱A holiday cottage can be more than a cottage – it can be a retreat, a safe space, and a chance to reconnect with what matters.

Westholme has always been special to me – and to now share it with others feels like a full-circle moment.
