Aye Gill Pike, Dentdale
This will be a strenuous yet short 6 mile circular walk from the gorgeous village of Dent.
Subject to clear skies, this route will offer stunning valley views of Dentdale, the rolling grassy slopes of the Howgill Fells and also views of its near neighbours Great Knoutberry and Whernside.
What a walk!!
A really enjoyable 6 mile circular walk from Dent along the banks of the River Dee and then a gentle climb up to the summit of Aye Gill Pike. The views from the trig point and also on the descent were superb. Saw a few people on the Dales High Way, including a lovely couple from my home city of Bradford, but didn't see a single soul on Aye Gill Pike and enjoyed lunch and coffee sat against the trig point in complete solitude.
Pity it wasn't a bit sunnier, it was mostly overcast but it was dry and visibility was good. Great walk with superb views and a thoroughly enjoyable day with the added bonus of a special treat on the way to the walk. More on that tomorrow!...
