Wold Fell & Great Knoutberry

This 9 mile circular walk will take us across the border separating North Yorkshire and Cumbria.

Starting from Dent Head Viaduct we will follow the road up to the Pennine Way and then head up towards the summit of Wold Fell..

...from here we will continue to climb to the trig point on Great Knoutberry Hill before descending towards Dent Station and then re-joining the Pennine Way and heading back past the disused coal mines on Dent Fell.

The route will then take us along Arten Gill, sandwiched nicely between the dramatic slopes of Wold Fell and Great Knoutberry before we approach and pass underneath the imposing Arten Gill Viaduct.

We then follow the Dale's Way alongside the river and return to the starting point of Dent Head Viaduct.
