The Old Gang Smelting Mill

Due to terrible visibility on the tops we decided to abandon our intended ascents up Great Pinseat and Calver Hill and save them for another time when the weather is better.

So instead we walked the 5.5 mile circular walk from Surrender Bridge along Mill Gill to the impressive Old Gang Smelting Mills (more on this later..)

From here we followed the track up the side of the moor towards Great Pinseat and back down the other side of Surrender Moss and back to Surrender Bridge.

Thoroughly enjoyable simple and steady walk, slight drizzle for much of the walk but besides this the weather was decent and mild for the time of year.
