Sharp Haw & Rough Haw

A circular walk from Skipton, these hills are the most southern in the Yorkshire Dales and are two of the 5 summits that make up Flasby Fell.

This was a really enjoyable, yet surprisingly challenging walk that started from Skipton Town centre, and took us out on to open fields heading north. We crossed the A59 and made our way through Skipton Golf course before crossing the road and beginning the ascent to Sharp Haw.

The boggy track made the ascent more challenging and made slightly more difficult the steep climb to the trig point on Sharp Haw. From here, despite the cloudy and hazy skies, we were treated to some lovely views of Embsay Moor and Rylstone Cross (the walk we did a few weeks ago) and panoramic views back towards Gargrave and Skipton, as well as the Aire Valley.

Then we made the short trek across to Rough Haw before descending to the pretty village of Flasby and marauding through the Estate and well maintained fields to the Leeds Liverpool canal, following the tow path back to Skipton.
